Bathroom Renovation Cost

Whether you want to update your shower/bathtub, improve the layout or give yourself a fully equipped spa facility in your home, you need to consider how much you want to spend on the renovation. The first factor to remember is that all costs will be relative to what you want to accomplish in your space, which means prices can vary considerably. This page will serve as a general guideline, providing you with essential factors to consider when determining the total cost of your new bathroom.

Q: How Much Does It Cost To Renovate Your Bathroom?

The answer to this question can vary greatly depending on the specifics of your project. When budgeting for your renovation, the three main factors you need to consider are the age of your home, the size of the bathroom and the quality of the materials and finishes. If you're looking for a ballpark figure, our bathrooms range from $35k to $125k, depending on the abovementioned factors. These figures incorporate our all-inclusive services, covering everything from professional bathroom design and installation to project management and warranties.

Keep in mind the average cost of a new bathroom can vary widely, and many elements can influence the total cost, including the type of work to be done, the required labour, the materials needed, the length of the project, and other contingencies. Based on our past projects, the following is the price range:

  1. Small bathroom under 50 Sqft: $35,000 - $50,000.

  2.     Medium bathroom between 50 to 120 Sqft: $55,000 - $120,000.

  3.     Large bathroom over 120 Sqft: $125,000+

Q: How Much Should You Spend On Your Master Bathroom?

It's ultimately your decision, but a good guideline to follow is the "5-10 percent rule." This rule recommends that your master bath should cost no less than 5 percent of your home's value and no more than 10 percent. Here's what that looks like. For example, if you own an $800,000 home, the lowest number you likely want to spend will be $40,000 (5%). However, you probably wouldn’t want to exceed a budget of $80,000 (10%).

Spend less than 5 percent, and you may decrease the value of your home. And investing more than 10 percent of your home’s value could lower your ROI if you plan to sell your home in the future. Obviously, there are exceptions to this rule, but when you’re trying to set a budget for your master bathroom, the 5 to 10 percent rule is a good place to start.

Additionally, we highly recommend adding 10% on top of your budget to handle surprises and unexpected costs.

Q: What’s The ROI?

Bathroom renovations are one of the highest ROIs for a home improvement project. In most cases, you can count on your new bathroom to boost the value of your home. According to the “Remodelling 2022 Cost vs. Value Report”, you’ll recoup, on average, an 83% return rate in the real estate market. For instance, an $80K master bath can increase your home’s resale value by approx. $66,400, if done correctly. And if you’re planning to sell in the future, a beautiful bathroom can help your house stand out for prospective buyers.
